7-week course

Class fee: $235 - returning students (Use code IMBACK.)

$295 - for new students - includes training kit

Prerequisite: none

Limit 6 dogs

The first 16 weeks of life are very important to a young dog's socialization. We're not just talking about meeting other dogs, though. They're figuring out what is safe or scary. New, happy experiences are key. This class will help you introduce your puppy to a lot of new things, as well as have adequate playtime and cover many basic manners.

Behaviors covered: Sit, down, come (recall), nose targeting, loose leash walking, polite greetings, and more! Class runs ~1 hr 15 mins.

Appropriate for: Puppies aged 8 to 20 weeks who have received their first set of parvo vaccinations and/or titer before attending class and rabies if old enough. Please allow at least one week between a vaccination and class attendance.

Please note, your first class is our "How Dogs Learn" Seminar/orientation and mandatory for class attendance. It is held without dogs during the first class of the seven weeks. This special orientation will always start at the first class period of that day. This means if you are in the second class (usually 7:00p/7:30p) your orientation is at the earlier class (at 5:30p/6:00p) for that first week only. Please make note of this when checking your availability and reach out if you have questions. If you cannot attend your orientation, you may attend another if one is being offered, but we must be notified first.

All seven-week beginner class students will receive a graduation gift upon course completion and a trial of our exclusive "Ask the Trainer" Webinar subscription.

Should your puppy attend classes before they've

completed their vaccinations?

The first several months of a puppy's life are a critical period for learning about the world. The American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior states that, "puppies can start socialization classes as early as 7-8 weeks of age,"

and that "...it should be the standard of care for puppies to receive socialization before they are fully vaccinated."

We request that your puppy receive at least the first round of their parvo vaccine or titer before their first class and that they receive their rabies vaccine/titer at the age recommended by their veterinarian. If this time falls during the class series, we recommend getting the vaccination the day after a class. That gives the body a week to adjust before the next week's class date.

If your puppy is on a nosode schedule instead of vaccinations, please contact us.

Read the AVSAB position statement below and discuss what's best

for your puppy with your veterinarian.
